Madi is a spunky, queer, novice skateboarder and Brad is a quiet, gentle, long-time skateboarder. For the past few years and for several times a week, Brad has been teaching Madi how to skate. They met in 2022 working at a local pizzeria in Knoxville, Tennessee. Despite their opposite natures, they developed a deep friendship under the medium of skateboarding.

First Fall is a look into a child’s relationship with their own gender despite predetermined societal expectations. Children feel pressure to follow in their parents footsteps and this photoshoot delves into both the parents and child’s struggle with these presumptions. Photographed for STRIKE Magazine.

“First Fall” is featured in Strike Magazine’s issue 8: body Snatchers. “Body Snatchers walks the edge of all that is familiar and conventional. they metamorphosize one’s own flesh and image, permeating its thresholds. it is both intoxicating yet anxiogenic. systems of bodily invasion disguise themselves as aid, assisting in the restoration of family values and a distrust in human nature. these entities alter our worldview so seamlessly it almost feels natural yet its effects are concerning.”
